Since 1996, Roca’s Essencia Latina has been nurturing and showcasing the artistic talents of high risk young people from inclusion, self-respect, and physical, mental and emotional health. The entirety of the program, from direction, to choreography, to touring performances, is led by young people for young people. Roca's Essencia Latina's many performances include local festivals, cultural activities, local and out-ofstate concerts, and community-oriented events where the young members showcase their talent and help promote positive change through cultural and artistic expressions.
On February 9th, 2008, fourteen members of Roca's Essencia Latina traveled to New York City to perform with Don Omar, Puerto Rican Latin Grammy Award-nominated Reggaeton artist, at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
